Experiential Knowledge of Mental Health Professionals : Service Users’ Perceptions

Introduction: Nowadays the Western mental health system is in transformation to recovery-oriented and trauma informed care which experiential knowledge becomes incorporated. An important development this context that traditional professionals came fore with their lived experiences. From 2017 2021, a research project was conducted Netherlands three organizations, focussing on how service users perceive professional use of knowledge. Aims: This paper aims explore users’ perspectives regarding healthcare professionals’ perceptions contributes personal recovery. Methods: As part qualitative research, 22 were interviewed. A thematic analysis employed derive themes patterns from interview transcripts. Results: The manifests quality compassionate user-professional relationship disclosures professional’s distress resilience are embedded. often stimulates recovery process. Conclusions: Findings suggest by like social workers, nurses humanistic counselors, demonstrates an overall positive value as additional (re)source.
